As to number 10, Tennessee did not stop Georgia’s offense. Georgia chose to completely abounding the passing game, only throwing it 4 times total in the second half. It was more than obvious that, had Georgia kept the pedal down, this game would’ve been something more like 49 to 13. They scored at will, and chose to run the clock for 20 minutes when it became obvious that Tennessee had no chance of scoring on the defense. I’d expect more from a football reporter, someone who should know the sport and do their homework, but I know better.
Both UF and Bama are good teams but not elite. That may change by the time the cocktail party rolls around, but UF better learn how to throw the ball. If Kirby can stack 7 in the box, UF won’t score a TD all night. Similarly, UF Defense did not impress me given that Bama Offense looks a bit one dimensional right now. Dawgs Defense only weakness is the secondary and they are coming around, but with that Front 7 they only need to cover for about 2 seconds. UF will not beat the Dawgs without elite QB play and so far I haven’t seen that out of them….or Bama for that matter. Dawgs Offense is improving very quickly and will continue to do so as more weapons recover from injury. That said, The rushing attack has looked suspect, but the flip side is that Monken has been very good at taking what the defense gives him, and when they’ve needed to run the ball as in the final drive against Clemson, they got the job done. I think pundits are making too much out of the UF/UA game as it pertains to how good UF is. Bama gave up almost as many point against Miami as….APPALACHIAN STATE did. The idea that UF is great, while scoring a few more points against Bama than a very weak Miami team, is crazy to me. Jacksonville is not the swamp. That stadium holds a little more than half of what the swamp does and it will only be half full of Gators. Crowd noise will be a non-issue. By no means am I staying with confidence that the Dawgs beat UF in the WLODCP but I think way too much weight is being given to a team that just lost to a team that every BAMA fan I’ve talked to will readily tell you is not yet elite.
