UF made no such offer. Strickland said he would be willing to offer a 2 for 1 but never did. No official offer was ever made.
That definitely rules Mizzou out then: Troy SE Missouri South Carolina Vanderbilt Kentucky Tennessee Arkansas and overrated Florida
That was bad too but we lost every game that 2015 season so you could say "better than losing to (blank)" and fill it in. I guess you could say our athletes weren't motivated in 2015. With mostly the same athletes, we went 6-7 the very next year, then 13-0. Amazing what a new coach and the right AD can do for a program! Back to your original point. UCF is done with "pay to play", "one and done" and being the homecoming game victim. Been there, done that.
(My opinion)...I think the P5 conferences have been "watered down" since expanding from 8 to 12 or 14 teams. I don't think they are as elite as they once were There is not that big of a gap between P5 teams and UCF. I feel pretty confident UCF could enter any of the P5 conferences and go 6-6 the very first season. The SEC and the Big 10 would be the most difficult to do that but not impossible. You can call it delusional and insane. I call it confidence
The Camping World Stadium "Citrus Bowl" is a short drive away from the UCF campus. I am sure accommodations can be made for that venue to serve as UCF's "home" for games where crowd capacity is a concern. But I would speculate that if this resolved the stadium size issue, those same big time schools would find another way to move the goal posts and give some other excuse to avoid playing UCF. It is a lose/lose proposition for big time schools to play the UCF's and Boise State's from the G5. If you win, no big deal because you beat a G5 team. If you lose, it is a very big deal because you lost to a G5 team which will have huge consequences with ranking and the CFP Invitational. Case and point Ohio State's loss to Purdue. Just think if that was a loss to a G5 team!
I would say that is not a fair "apples to apples" comparison. If those 10 to 12 SEC teams were reassigned to the AAC to play a UCF SOS, they would then be working with less resources ($1.8 million a year tv contract vs $40 million), they would be getting 2 and 3 star recruits typical of being in a G5 conference instead of 4 and 5 star recruits typical of a "elite" P5 conference with the hopes of playing in the CFP invitational and a CFP Natty at the end of the season, and they would not have multi-level depth of talent which makes it easier for P5 teams to absorb the loss of injured players. Those teams would not easily go undefeated in the AAC. I don't blame the CFP or those who are in the P5 conferences except for not allowing the AAC to remain the 6th power conference as the Big East's AQ replacement. By downgrading the conference to the G5 the remaining Big East teams lost TV $$$ and the ability to compete for the 4 and 5 star recruits they previously could get. UCF does well considering its G5 resources and talent. If invited to a P5 conference I would not be surprised to see UCF as a 12-0 to 10-2 team within its first 3 seasons.
