Heading into National Signing Day, we knew Avantae Williams would be staying in-state but what was undecided was whether the four-star defensive back was headed to Florida or Miami.

Well, Florida fans will be stunned by this news as the standout from Deland High School announced on Wednesday that he’s a Hurricane.

During his college recruitment, Williams was previously committed to Oregon but he backed off that pledge in December, clearing the way for the Gators and Miami to get back into his recruitment.

Williams would have been the second-highest rated member of Florida’s 2020 recruiting class had he signed with the Gators. All 15 of his crystal ball projections on 247Sports predicted he would sign with Dan Mullen’s program.

The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Williams rates as the No. 44 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 safety in the 2020 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.
