Billy Napier has announced that redshirt senior running back Cam Carroll is out for the season because of a significant knee injury sustained in a scrimmage on Friday.

The veteran rusher spent his first 5 college seasons at Tulane before transferring to Gainesville this offseason.

Napier expressed his support for Carroll as he prepares for the journey to recovery.

“It just kind of hits you right in the gut,” Napier said via All Gators. “But Cam will respond. He will get the full support of our team and organization, and he will be back.”

Carroll is keeping in good spirits as he uses his faith to push him through the circumstances.

“God’s testimony is greater than any trial or tribulation,” Carroll said on Twitter in the aftermath of Friday’s injury. “I appreciate and have much love for Gator nation!!! I will be back soon!!”

Carroll also suffered a season-ending injury after 1 game last season. Carroll rushed for 1,621 yards and 19 touchdowns while having 23 receptions for 247 yards and 5 touchdowns during his time at Tulane.
