Billy Napier told provided an update for starting quarterback Graham Mertz following Florida’s 33-31 loss to No. 9 Mizzou Saturday night.

Mertz suffered a “significant” collarbone injury with minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter, exiting the game with Max Brown playing relief.

According to Napier, Mertz suffered a non-displaced fracture in his collarbone, which would likely keep him out the remainder of the season (Week 13 and a potential bowl game)

It’s not official, but it looks like it will be the Max Brown show when the Gators take on Florida State next week. And for what it’s worth, Brown played well in lieu of Mertz Saturday night against the No. 9 team in the country.

The Florida freshman completed all 3 of his passing attempts for 39 yards and added 42 yards on the ground. He came up huge with a late 3rd down conversion to put the Gators in position to win with Tyler Smack’s made field goal.
