Cam Newton is just like the rest of us. Newton has watched the Netflix “Untold: Swamp Kings” documentary, and he has many thoughts.

The documentary focuses on Urban Meyer’s tenure at Florida. Newton played for Meyer’s Gators in 2007 and ’08. One of Newton’s big issues with the documentary, however, regards the 2006 team.

Chris Leak played at Florida from 2003-to-2006, earning second-team All-SEC recognition in his final 2 seasons. Newton takes issue with the fact that the documentary describes Florida as being a quarterback away in the early Meyer years. Leak would split time with Tim Tebow, who participated in the documentary, during the 2006 championship run.

“Some of the things I did not like about the documentary was how they played Chris Leak, in my opinion,” Newton said in a TikTok post. “I was watching it like, they said things like, ‘We were just one quarterback away.’ Like, bro. Chris Leak was that (expletive). Let’s not forget how pretty of a ball he threw. Started as a freshman in the SEC from Independence High School out of Charlotte. Like, what are we talking about? Granted, Tebow is everything and some. But bruh, let’s not try to dim the lights of Chris Leak.”

Newton expressed disappointment in the lack of participation from some key members of the national championship teams.

“Lastly, where were these players? I really wanted to hear from Percy Harvin, Joe Haden, the Pouncey twins [Mike and Maurkice]. Like there was so much that they left out. But other than that, it was a good documentary,” Newton added.

As Saturday Down South’s Matt Hayes noted, the documentary also shied from Newton’s laptop incident and departure from UF. Newton opens the TikTok video by saying he did not receive a 2008 national championship ring.
