Dan Mullen announced on Monday that Elijah Blades is no longer with the Florida program because he was dismissed on Sunday.

“We dismissed him from our program,” Mullen said at a press conference. “He’s no longer with the team. I met with him and dismissed him from the program yesterday.”

Blades, who transferred to Florida from Texas A&M where he graduated from earlier this year, has had a winding relationship with the Gators.

Blades committed to Florida and then-head coach Jim McElwain back in 2016 when he first came out of high school, but then decommitted before National Signing Day, pledging to sign with Nebraska before he ended up at Arizona Western Community College.

Blades last played in 6 games for the Aggies in 2019, then he sat out the 2020 season and declared for the NFL Draft, then changed his mind, entered the transfer portal and landed at Florida.
