Florida is getting ready for football season.

The Gators left zero doubt, crushing LSU by a score of 24-4 to force a national title-deciding Game 3 Monday evening. 24 is the most runs ever scored in a single game in CWS history.

Let’s start with Jac Caglianone, who was one of 2 Gators to leave the yard not once, but twice Sunday evening. In doing so, the Gators’ star 2-way player launched his 32nd and 33rd home runs of the season. No. 32 tied Ivan Melendez’ single-season BBCOR record for most home runs and No. 33 surpassed it with 1 game to go.

Caglianone finished with 5 RBI on the day. He was one of 3 Florida players whose bat plated more runs than LSU’s entire team did.

Another was Wyatt Langford, who finished 5-5 with 6 RBI, 2 doubles and a 3-run homer in the 6th inning.

This wasn’t the most impressive home run of the day, however. Ty Evans had a pair Sunday, including a Grand Slam that essentially ended the ballgame in the 3rd inning.

With the score tied at 3-all, Evans left the yard with a moonshot to left field. We don’t say that lightly: this ball might have scraped a few cumulonimbus clouds with a 51-degree launch angle.

In total, the Gators launched 6 home runs Sunday, the most in a MCWS finals game in history. The Gators surpassed Texas’ mark of 5 set in 2009… against LSU.

If you’re the Tigers, there’s nothing to do but wipe your memory and forget Sunday, June 25 ever happened. The Gators, however, will look to use their momentum from an otherworldly performance to capture its 2nd national title in program history and 2nd in the past 10 years Monday evening.

The winner-take-all Game 3 is set for Monday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN.
