When it comes to recruiting Trey Sanders, the nation’s No. 1 prospect at the running back position, no school can currently offer up what Florida can to him — a chance to play college football with his brother.

That’s because the Gators landed his brother, junior college linebacker Umstead Sanders, late in the 2018 recruiting cycle. Based on conversations the running back recruit has had with the Florida staff, his brother’s addition is being used as a recruiting pitch by Dan Mullen and company.

The Florida native currently ranks as a five-star prospect and the No. 7 overall recruit in the nation by 247Sports Composite Rankings.

In a recent article by Luke Stampini of 247Sports, Sanders says that’s what the Florida staff has been selling to him.

“Come be good with your brother. They pound it in my head, man,” Sanders admitted. “Me and my brother always talked growing up and playing with each other. He told them that, and it’s just special to have that opportunity to go play with my brother.”

But before Florida fans get too excited, Sanders also acknowledged that he plans to let the process play out and won’t select the Gators purely to play college football with his brother. After all, if the younger Sanders does sign with Florida, there’s a chance he only spends a single season with his older brother in Gainesville.

Sanders is also being recruited heavily by Alabama, Georgia, and Florida State among others.
