Jake Allen, a Florida quarterback commit, had a great Friday night, leading his Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas team to a 45-6 victory in the Florida 7A state title game in his final game as a high school player.

Allen threw for 329 yards and a whopping five touchdowns in the win against Plant, both of which were career highs.

Allen had a great performance at exactly the right time, as Florida head coach Jim McElwain was in attendance Friday night, according to the Tampa Bay Times:

“We decided that it would be better for them to come to the game instead of an in-home visit,” Allen said.

Could the Gators turn to Allen, who would be a true freshman, as the starter next year? Allen said he’ll be ready for whatever the coaches throw his way:

“I’m going to go in ready to play,” Allen said. “And if my number is called, my number is called. If it’s not, I’m going to help the team in any way.”

For now, though, Allen will enjoy Friday night’s state title. He can start prepping for his Florida career next week.

According to 247Sports, Allen, a three-star prospect, is the No. 23 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2017 and the No. 74 overall recruit from the state of Florida.
