Florida freshman Kyle Pitts is making the switch from tight end to wide receiver. RB Jordan Scarlett says it’s a simple move that illustrates a key difference between Dan Mullen and his predecessor, Jim McElwain.

“I feel like our last staff never would take the next step to even move him,” Scarlett said at a recent Peach Bowl media opportunity, per Jacquie Franciulli of Gators Territory.

“They would probably have left him all three years, and they would have recruited another tight end that was better than him and he would probably under the rope for two-to-three years and then transferred out of here.”

The redshirt junior running back said he saw it happen throughout his time at UF.

“I’ve seen a lot of good players come out of Florida and they just end up leaving because a coach doesn’t like them or they like another player over him because they didn’t recruit the guy.”

Moving Pitts makes sense considering Lucas Krull, Dante Lang and Kemore Gamble will be returning at the position for 2019. Four-star TE recruit Keon Zipperer signed with Florida last week. Pitts is listed at 6-6, 246 pounds.
