Former Florida offensive lineman Trent Brown remembers his final season with the Gators fondly.

Well, perhaps not fondly. But he certainly remembers it. Brown spent his first two years of college ball at the JUCO level, where he was named a second-team NJCAA All-American in 2012. In 2013, he moved to Florida to play tackle and, after a year, moved into the starting lineup as a 6-foot-8, 360-pound guard.

Now with the Patriots, Brown was asked on Wednesday about playing guard in school and did not hold back.

“I shouldn’t have been playing guard,” he said, per MassLive’s Mark Daniels. “Honestly, it was some bullshit. I thought I was doing what’s best for the team, but I fucked myself. It’s ok.”

Brown spent nearly 400 snaps at right guard during the 2014 season. He ended the year as Florida’s second-best pass-blocker, according to Pro Football Focus. He was charged with just four quarterback pressures and only one hit allowed all season.

But the Gators struggled around him. That season proved to be the final year of the Will Muschamp era. The defensive-minded coach was shown the door after a 6-5 regular season, departing with a 28-21 record in four years.

Brown has spent his nine-year professional career as a tackle. He was a seventh-round draft pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, started all 16 games for the Super Bowl-winning Patriots in 2018, then made a Pro Bowl in 2019 with the Raiders.
