LJ McCray is staying home to play in the SEC.

The elite defensive lineman from Daytona Beach, Florida is taking his talents to Gainesville. McCray announced his commitment to Florida on Saturday.

A Mainland standout, McCray is listed as measuring 6-6 and 260 pounds. The industry-generated 247Sports Composite rates McCray 4-stars, the No. 12 recruit in the state of Florida, No. 16 defensive lineman and No. 106 prospect overall. It’s worth noting that 247Sports and On3 each consider McCray a top-10 overall prospect, while ESPN has him No. 23 and Rivals No. 249.

McCray picked up scholarship offers from 35 programs during his recruitment. He narrowed it down to Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami and Auburn for Saturday’s big decision.

McCray joins a loaded Florida recruiting class. The Gators now have 22 commitments and rank No. 3 nationally on the Composite, behind only Georgia and Ohio State.
