Primed for a strong finish: Gators flip Vols DB commit

Dan Mullen and the Florida Gators are on the verge of a big recruiting finish to the 2020 recruiting cycle.

The Gators flipped former elite Georgia lineman commit Joshua Braun Friday, and now, Mullen and company have flipped 4-star Tennessee defensive back commit Mordecai McDaniel.

McDaniel (Washington, D.C.) is ranked as the No. 24 overall cornerback in the nation and ranked as D.C.’s No. 5 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. He boasted offers from big programs around the nation, and he had been committed to Tennessee since August 21.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound cornerback became the Gators 24th commitment in the class of 2020. While Florida has a strong class already, things are setting up for a big finish with several other big-time prospects looking the Gators way.

To pull the flip, Mullen, safeties coach Ron English and cornerbacks coach Torrian Gray went in-home with McDaniel. He shared his commitment via Twitter:
