Quincy Wilson’s name frequently was mentioned by draft analysts on Thursday night.

Friday, an NFL team finally called it.

Wilson was taken No. 46 overall by the Indianapolis Colts in the second round of the NFL Draft.

Last year, Gators Vernon Hargreaves and Keanu Neal were first-round picks. In 2013, Matt Elam was a first-round pick.

Wilson’s rise was dramatic.

A 3-star recruit in 2014 and part-time starter his first two years in Gainesville, Wilson wasn’t among the 12 defensive backs media members selected in July for the first, second or third team All-SEC.

By season’s end, he was voted second-team All-SEC and began climbing up NFL Draft boards.

Wilson had three interceptions as a junior, returning one for a touchdown. He helped the Gators pick off 16 passes, which ranked 14th nationally and tied Alabama for most in the SEC.
