The Florida Gators struggled to find a new coach, but the search didn’t go off the rails like Tennessee’s has.

Though Florida didn’t land its first choice in Chip Kelly, the Gators brought back Dan Mullen, the successful Mississippi State coach who won two titles with the Gators as Urban Meyer’s offensive coordinator.

On Friday, he posted a video update on his Twitter account, expressing his excitement after his first week on the job for Florida:

“Gator Nation, it’s been a great first week on the job,” he said. “I still haven’t wiped the smile off my face. So happy to be your head coach.”

He goes on to provide an update about the recruiting he’s been doing, saying he’s trying to get the Gators back on top.

Compared with how aloof former coach Jim McElwain seemed to be, Mullen’s outgoing nature will endear him to Florida fans.

He’s off to a good start at Florida, and if he keeps it up, he could have a great deal of success in Gainesville.
