Georgia just took a big step toward landing another five-star prospect.

The latest good news on the recruiting trail for Kirby Smart’s program came on Tuesday as Washington, D.C. native Mekhail Sherman has announced he has eliminated Alabama and Penn State from consideration in his recruitment and narrowed his options down to Georgia and Ohio State.

If you haven’t been following his recruitment, the 6-foot-3, 234-pound linebacker from St. John’s College High School is rated as the No. 11 overall prospect in the nation and the No. 2 outside linebacker by 247Sports Composite Rankings. Sherman recently visited both Georgia and Ohio State on official visits, which likely helped him decide to narrow his options down to the two programs.

“It’s between Ohio State & Georgia fr. No interviews, & I appreciate the coaches for presenting me opportunities & the fan bases which came with them. Appreciate you all,” Sherman tweeted out.

The Bulldogs currently only hold seven commitments for the 2020 recruiting cycle but that group features enough talent to rank the class at No. 11 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC.
