Georgia extends offer to yet another talented defensive back in the transfer portal
Is Brandon Turnage in or out down in Athens?
That remains to be seen following multiple reports that the transfer defensive back from Alabama is reconsidering his commitment status to Kirby Smart’s program, something that Turnage appeared to downplay on Sunday evening.
Either way, Georgia may not be done adding to its roster via the transfer portal this offseason as the Bulldogs recently offered former Tulsa defensive back Akayleb Evans on Sunday.
It’s unclear if Evans’ offer is in reaction to the Turnage rumors but the timing is certainly interesting.
But don’t think Evans is simply some placeholder for Turnage as the former Tulsa starting cornerback is currently being pursued by Missouri, Texas, Notre Dame and Deion Sanders’ Jackson State program. Evans visited Missouri over the weekend.
For his college career, Evans has started 23 games and registered 82 tackles, 11 pass breakups. At one point last season, Pro Football Focus selected Evans to be on its National Team of the Week.
Evans has two seasons of eligibility remaining at this next school.
