Amarius Mims has been selected at No. 18 overall by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Mims now joins a Bengals team that will be hoping to make the postseason again this upcoming season after a 1-year absence from the playoffs. Mims figures to help stabilize a Bengals offensive line that struggled at times this past season.

Mims originally signed with Georgia as a 5-star prospect in the class of 2021. He was mostly a reserve for the Bulldogs until he earned a starting job late in the 2022 season. He started in both of Georgia’s College Football Playoff games at the end of that campaign.

In 2023, Mims started in 6 games but missed most of the his final season in Athens due to injuries. Still, he showed enough talent and upside to warrant selection in the 1st round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

At 6-foot-7, Mims projects to be a tackle at the next level and has excellent size for that position. He’s been considered a potential 1st round pick throughout the pre-draft process this offseason.

This is expected to be a relatively light NFL Draft for Georgia by its recent standards. Mims is the 2nd Bulldog off the board after tight end Brock Bowers heard his name called earlier this evening. UGA produced a total of 8 1st-round picks in the previous 2 NFL drafts.

Wide receiver Ladd McConkey, safety Javon Bullard and cornerback Kamari Lassister are all expected to be picked somewhere in the top-100 this weekend. Several other former UGA players could hear their names called before the end of the 2024 NFL Draft.

This marks the 2nd straight draft that Georgia has produced a 1st-round offensive lineman (Broderick Jones was picked 14th overall by the Steelers in 2023).

Mims is originally from Cochran, Georgia.
