Arik Gilbert is on the move again. The Georgia transfer tight end will continue his career in the Big Ten. Gilbert has committed to joining Matt Rhule’s Nebraska program.

Gilbert began his career at LSU. In 2020, he earned Freshman All-SEC recognition. In 8 games, all starts, Gilbert recorded 35 catches for 368 yards and 2 touchdowns.

After the 2020 season, Gilbert entered the NCAA transfer portal. He originally committed to Florida, but backed off that pledge and landed at Georgia.

Gilbert was away from the Bulldogs during their 2021 national championship season. He was back with the team in 2022, but made just 3 appearances during the season, recording 2 catches for 16 yards. Gilbert had a 4-yard touchdown catch in UGA’s win over Vanderbilt.

Out of Marietta (Georgia), Gilbert was a 5-star tight end prospect in the 2020 recruiting class. Georgia’s online 2022 roster lists Gilbert as a 6-5, 248-pound wide receiver, but his bio notes he saw action during the season “as a reserve TE.”
