Former Georgia cornerback Eric Stokes is headed back to the sidelines, painfully close to him playing out his first snaps of the season.

The Green Bay Packers announced Wednesday that he and safety Darnell Savage had been placed on Injured Reserve. Stokes went down with a hamstring injury after seeing action on 4 special teams plays against the Denver Broncos, his first time on the football field since he sustained foot and knee injuries in November.

“In Denver I was down the whole time and all that stuff,” the former first-round pick Stokes said on Wednesday, per ESPN. “But the moment we landed back here, it was time to man up and just go ahead and face reality. It is what it is. In Denver, I was saying, ‘Why me? Why all this?’ … But the moment I got back here, it is what it is. It’s time to move forward. It’s time to focus on going ahead and getting back to the grind.”

Over the past 2 seasons in the NFL, Stokes has recorded 81 combined tackles (64 solo) with 14 passes defended and 1 interception. He finished out his career with the Bulldogs with 78 combined tackles (60 solo), 22 passes defended, 4 interceptions, 1 forced fumble and 1 sack.
