Georgia assistant Dell McGee named Recruiter of the Year after ridiculous 2018 haul
The Georgia Bulldogs broke Alabama’s impressive streak of finishing with the No. 1 recruiting class, and perhaps the biggest reason is RBs coach Dell McGee.
247Sports named McGee the Recruiter of the Year after his work during the 2018 recruiting class. McGee is in his second year at UGA, and he’s proven he’s a dynamic recruiter in a short time.
Specifically in 2018, McGee was instrumental in helping Georgia sign 5-stars QB Justin Fields and RB Zamir White. McGee was also the primary recruiter for 4-stars Chris Smith and James Cook and helped the Bulldogs land other 5-stars Brenton Cox and Jamaree Salyer. During the 2017 recruiting cycle, McGee was impactful in helping the Bulldogs land future star RB D’Andre Swift.
Prior to his time at UGA, McGee served as the RBs coach and associate head coach at Georgia Southern and helped the Eagles win their first-ever bowl game in 2015 after he was named the interim head coach. He coached at Auburn as an analyst in 2013 when the Tigers eventually lost to FSU in the BCS National Championship Game. Before his college coaching career, McGee developed Carver-Columbus High School (Georgia) into a perennial powerhouse.
