Alabama’s streak of No. 1 recruiting classes is officially over.

Ironically, the guy who helped Nick Saban build his incredible classes over the years beat his former boss.

Kirby Smart and Georgia have the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class, and it’s an embarrassment of riches. The Bulldogs jumped Ohio State, who was ranked No. 1 entering Wednesday, and the Buckeyes even landed 5-star OT Nicholas Petit-Frere.

The biggest signee Wednesday for Georgia was 5-star CB Tyson Campbell. To add to Campbell, 4-star OLB Quay Walker flipped from Alabama and 4-star LB Otis Reese flipped from Michigan, the Wolverines top-ranked commit in the 2018 recruiting class. Four-star WR Tommy Bush also signed with Georgia, helping to just pad the stellar class.

In addition to the huge Signing Day, the Bulldogs landed six other 5-star players in QB Justin Fields, RB Zamir White, OL Cade Mays, DE Brenton Cox, OG Jamaree Salyer and OLB Adam Anderson during the Early Signing Period. In between the wild haul of 5-stars, the Bulldogs also signed 15 4-stars.

While championships aren’t won on paper (it takes development, too), Georgia is well on its way to having the most talented team in college football. And there’s no end in sight, really.

The Bulldogs not only signed the No. 1 recruiting class, but, on paper, this may be the best recruiting class ever.
