Georgia will need a new wide receivers coach.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports, per a source, that Bryan McClendon is leaving his post with the Bulldogs to become the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ wide receivers coach and pass game coordinator.

McClendon, 40, played wide receiver at Georgia from 2002-to-2005. He got his coaching start as a graduate assistant with his alma mater in 2007.

In his first stint with the Bulldogs, McClendon served in the roles of running backs coach, recruiting coordinator, wide receivers coach and assistant head coach. McClendon was the team’s interim coach for its 2015 bowl game after Mark Richt’s departure.

Following the coaching change at Georgia, McClendon landed at South Carolina. He coached Gamecock wide receivers for four seasons, including two as co-offensive coordinator and two as the sole OC.

After South Carolina, McClendon joined Mario Cristobal’s Oregon staff. He was passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach, serving as the Ducks’ interim coach for the Alamo Bowl when Cristobal departed to take the Miami head coaching job.

McClendon was initially set to follow Cristobal to Miami, but he decided to instead accept a position on Kirby Smart’s staff. McClendon was on staff for the Dawgs’ 2022 national championship season and 13-1 campaign in 2023.

As a player, McClendon only spent a brief time in the NFL as an offseason member of the Chicago Bears. This will be his first pro coaching gig.
