Georgia has had a slew of players announce they would not play in the Sugar Bowl against Baylor, and others who have missed practice, which has left their availability in doubt.

One of the Bulldogs’ best players, RB D’Andre Swift, has dealt with a shoulder injury this season, and also is likely weighing his NFL future. So coach Kirby Smart was asked about what he expects from the running back.

“I don’t know, we’re going to wait and see,” Smart said at a press conference, via video from Georgia football. “He’s competed, he’s done everything we’ve asked him to do. If he feels like he’s able to go, and go at 100 percent, then we’re going to use him. He’s done more this last week in practice than he did before the SEC Championship Game, that’s for certain, so excited to see where he goes.”

Swift was an All-SEC selection this season, and played in all 13 games, with a start in 11. He’s the team’s leading rusher with 1,216 yards on 195 carries, with seven TDs.

In the Auburn game this season, he became the fifth player in Georgia history to have multiple 1,000-yard seasons and the first since Nick Chubb (2014, 16-17). In his career, Swift has 2,883 career yards, which is seventh on UGA’s all-time list.
