Saturday was a landmark moment for Georgia true freshman wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint as he made his 1st career touchdown catch, a 32-yard grab in the 1st quarter to give the Bulldogs a 2-touchdown lead over the Florida Gators in Jacksonville.

The celebration was short-lived, however, as the South Florida product sustained a terrible ankle injury at the end of the play and had to be carted off the field. During his media availability on Monday, head coach Kirby Smart provided an update on the status of Rosemy-Jacksaint, as well as the extent of the injury.

“[He] had a fractured, dislocated ankle. They repaired that this morning with surgery. He is out the remainder of the season,” Smart said.

According to Smart, the injury bears similarities to one sustained by James Cook and former Bulldog Riley Ridley. As far as Rosemy-Jacksaint, the prognosis, as it was for Cook and Ridley, appears to be good.

“He is in great spirits, he’s a great kid, and has a great family,” he said.

Rosemy-Jacksaint had appeared in every game this season before his injury. He was set to play a larger role in the game on Saturday due to the absence of George Pickens, who was out with an upper-body injury.
