Kirby Smart has mastered the formula to generate Georgia’s 28-game winning streak, and he told Jenny Dell of CBS Sports the recipe after a throttling of Tennessee.
“Sign good players, sign good kids and get them to believe that if they don’t care who gets the credit, if they don’t care who gets the credit, then they’ll be very successful,” Smart said. “And we got a group of guys here, it’s different every week. This guy (Dillon Bell) didn’t get a whole bunch of touches last week, but today he made a bunch of big-time plays, he got his opportunity. And this guy (Carson Beck) helped him do it.”
Bell said of the receiving touchdown and the passing touchdown, the passing was more fun. He was not expecting the call.
“Not at that moment, but when it came, I was like why not,” Bell said.
Bell had 5 catches for 90 yards and the TD, he also added a 4-yard carry and the TD pass to help Georgia take the lead for good.
Georgia has tied Alabama for the longest winning streak in SEC history at 28 games, which happened twice for Alabama (1978-80, 1991-93). The Bulldogs will go for the record next week at Georgia Tech. The Dawgs have not lost a game since the 2021 SEC Championship Game.
