Kirby Smart, on Sunday’s teleconference previewing the SEC Championship Game, provided an update to the injury status of 4 key Georgia players on the offensive side of the football.
The biggest name on the list was Brock Bowers, who didn’t play in Saturday’s game at Georgia Tech as he continues to get back to 100 percent following TightRope surgery to stabilize a strained ankle. That was despite playing against Ole Miss and Tennessee. Per Smart, Bowers was given the day off, despite the original plan to use him on a situational basis.
Smart also gave updates on wide receivers Ladd McConkey and RaRa Thomas as well as offensive lineman Tate Ratledge. Neither player saw the field against Georgia Tech; Ratledge ultimately dressed out but was ultimately held out. All 3 are “day-to-day”, according to Smart.
Georgia and Alabama kick off from Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 2 at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on CBS.
Kirby Smart said on the SEC Championship teleconference Brock Bowers was the closest of the injured offensive players to playing last night. The staff wanted to use him situationally, but didn't feel like he could go.
