Kirk Herbstreit and the “College GameDay” crew are in East Lansing on Saturday as Michigan State hosts Michigan in a key Top 10 matchup.

Herbstreit’s keeping a close eye on matters surrounding the Georgia football program, too, as the No. 1 Bulldogs prepare for the Cocktail Party against Florida in Jacksonville. Stetson Bennett IV is reportedly set to get the start at quarterback once more as JT Daniels continues to recover from a lat injury.

Of course, Dawgs fans will remember 2020’s Cocktail Party, where Bennett was outplayed by Kyle Trask during a blowout win by the Gators. The prognosis for Georgia, though, is expected to be much different this time around thanks to one of the nation’s most fearsome defenses.

While Daniels is thought to step back behind center when he’s fully healthy, Herbstreit on Saturday argued that Georgia should perhaps continue to ride Bennett for now.

“They’re both great choices, but I (would go with) Stetson Bennett right now (due to) what he’s been able to do for them,” he said, according to 247Sports. “I think his mobility has been great to go along with their running game…[which] with Stetson Bennett has been outstanding and has been a nice complement to what they do in the run game.”

He added that Bennett has “a chip on his shoulder” based on a few perfomances from last year, providing motivation to prove his critics wrong.

“Last year, he had some issues when he stepped in for Daniels, and I think now we’re seeing him settle in and (be) much more accurate, much more consistent,” Herbstreit said.
