One of the most-watched matchups of the latest college football Saturday was the battle for the unofficial title of “best team in the nation” between the Georgia Bulldogs and the Tennessee Volunteers.

The Vols put up a fight, though their high-scoring offense was a bit stifled by the Georgia defense. It was ultimately the most recent national title-winning Bulldogs who came out on top in the end, 27-13. With the win, Georgia improves to 9-0 and looks to have the best chance at entering the College Football Playoff with the top seed.

College football analyst Matt Barrie recently weighed in on the way the Bulldogs were able to bottle up the Vols.

“The perfection with which Kirby Smart and his defensive coaches put together the game plan to shut down Tennessee on Saturday was honestly one of the best executed schemes I’ve ever seen,” Barrie said. “I’m not going to get too heavy into the X’s and O’s, where they defense was lined up and the Tennessee offense… but here’s what I know. Tennessee scored 13 points. Throughout the course of that game, the little amount of shots that Hendon Hooker took, it’s not because Tennessee tried to change their game plan. (It’s because Georgia wouldn’t let them go deep.”

Georgia faces Mississippi State, Kentucky and Georgia Tech as its final 3 regular season opponents with a strong chance of finishing the season undefeated.
