Mecole Hardman has a warning for opposing NFL defenses: relax coverage at your own risk.

Hardman is entering his fourth professional season. The former Georgia standout anticipates a new role in the Kansas City Chiefs offense after the team traded star wide receiver Tyreek Hill to Miami. During a recent appearance on ESPN’s First Take, Hardman shared that if defenses relax their coverage, he’ll blow by them just like Hill.

“Now, he (Hill) is gone. And if a defense feels like they can come and play man-to-man or stay at 10 yards (away) and think that’s cool, I’m going to go right by you. It’s as simple as that,” Hardman said.

He continued, “I never could show that because I have ‘that guy’ (Hill) in front of me, which I had no problem with. I learned from him — I learned everything from him. I wish him the best of luck as well, because he’s going to do the same thing at Miami. But I feel like I can take the top off, too. I can do that, too.”

As a rookie, Hardman was selected to the Pro Bowl and voted second-team All-Pro, helping the Chiefs win the Super Bowl. Over the last 3 seasons, Hardman has recorded 126 catches for 1,791 yards and 12 touchdowns.
