A Georgia assistant has decided to follow Sam Pittman to Arkansas.

Multiple outlets including FootballScoop are reporting that Scott Fountain is Arkansas’ new special teams coordinator after previously holding the same position at UGA. Fountain first joined Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs staff as an off-field special teams analyst in 2017. He briefly left to take the special teams coordinator position at Mississipi State (January-February 2018), but returned to Georgia to take the special teams coordinator position.

Prior to coaching at Georgia, Fountain was a top recruiter at Auburn as Gus Malzahn’s tight ends and special teams coach (2013-16). He previously served as Auburn’s director of player personnel (2009-12). Fountain began his college coaching career at Florida State (1994-96) as a graduate assistant while working on his Master’s degree from FSU.

Georgia K Rodrigo Blankenship won this year’s Lou Groza Award. In 2018, Mecole Hardman led the SEC in average punt return (20.1 yards per return). At Auburn, Fountain coached three-time Lou Groza Award finalist Daniel Carlson.
