Todd Gurley is coming home.

The Atlanta Falcons have signed Gurley to a 1-year deal, according to ESPN’s Jordan Schultz. The Falcons confirmed the signing via Twitter.

According to recent reports, Atlanta was one of the teams Gurley wanted to sign with for the 2020 season.

Gurley was released by the Rams Thursday. He was set to make an extra $10.5 million in roster bonuses. Los Angeles signed Gurley to the richest running back contract in NFL history worth up to $60 million, with $45 million guaranteed, prior to the 2018 season. Gurley was scheduled to have a base salary of over $13,000,000 next season.

During his time with the Rams, Gurley rushed for 5,404 yards and 58 touchdowns. Los Angeles initially drafted Gurley in the first round of the 2015 NFL Draft.

It’s not often a player the caliber of Gurley becomes available in free agency during his prime, but the Falcons pounced on the former Georgia standout.

This will certainly go over really well in the state of Georgia.
