Smoke Bouie, a transfer from Texas A&M, is no longer with the Georgia program, coach Kirby Smart confirmed on Tuesday during his early session with the media at SEC Media Days.

“Smoke is no longer with our team, it’s been that way for a while,” Smart told Georgia beat writers, per Mike Griffith. “We kind of mutually agreed to part ways and we wish him nothing but the best.”

Bouie is from Smart’s hometown of Bainbridge and was rated the No. 7 safety and No. 68 prospect overall in the 2022 recruiting class on the 247Sports Composite. He received 16 scholarship offers, and committed to Georgia on Nov. 1, 2020, but eventually flipped to the Aggies in August, 2021.

At Texas A&M, Bouie made 7 appearances for the Aggies, and was also suspended for a game last season. He recorded 4 tackles last year and last played on Nov. 19 against UMass. Bouie entered the transfer portal in December.

“It’s very disappointing his stay was short, but it was a decision that was made by both parties,” Smart said, “and like I said, we wish him nothing but the best. He’s from the hometown (Bainbridge) where I’m from, and we know a lot of people back there. It was a decision that was made.”
