The Georgia Bulldogs face the unenviable task of replacing star RBs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel ahead of the 2018 season, but that doesn’t mean the cupboard is bare at the running back position.

The Bulldogs return last year’s freshman sensation, D’Andre Swift, and add to the mix one of 2018’s top running backs in James Cook (fellow top signee Zamir White recently tore his ACL). They also bring back experienced guys like Brian Herrien and Elijah Holyfield, so OC Jim Chaney will have plenty of options.

In fact, former Georgia QB and current CBS analyst Aaron Murray thinks the 2018 Georgia rushing attack could end up being even better than last year’s:

“We saw (Swift) last year,” Murray says. “This kid, he’s something special. He’s elusive, he has the speed, he has the size, he can catch the ball out of the backfield — that’s smooth. He looks like a receiver out there. And then you beats you out to the outside like he did to Auburn in the SEC Championship Game.

“Between him, Cook, the other stable of running backs, Holyfield, and then that offensive line that averages, I don’t know, 6-5, 330 pounds, those guys — along with some great receivers and a veteran quarterback returning — this running game may be even better this year because they have a full package around them.”

It won’t be easy to top what Chubb, Michel and others did last season, but the Bulldogs do have plenty of offensive firepower — Murray is definitely right about that.
