A recent recruiting wave of blue-chip prospects committing to Georgia has pushed the Bulldogs past Alabama in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

UGA had one of the more memorable recruiting nights in recent memory as 5-star RB John Emery, 4-star ATH Makiya Tongue and 4-star LB Rian Davis all announced they were committing to Georgia in a matter of hours.

The blue-chip trio elevated Georgia to No. 2 in the recruiting rankings, but Alabama held onto No. 1.

That changed Thursday when No. 1 JUCO Jermaine Johnson was added to the 2019 class. With Johnson on board, the Bulldogs are now No. 1.

UGA has 17 pledges in its class. All but one is rated 4-stars or 5-stars. Recruitniks like to talk about “blue-chip ratio” in a class, and UGA’s blue-chip ratio is currently a jaw-dropping 94 percent.

As the SEC Network’s Peter Burns said, 2018 might be the last chance for the rest of the conference to take down Georgia on the field. Following last year’s No. 1 class and this year’s top class, the Bulldogs are going to be loaded for years to come.
