Andru Phillips, a key defensive back for Kentucky, announced that he would declare for the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday. Phillips played for the Wildcats for four seasons and recorded 80 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and 9 pass breakups during his time in Lexington.

He goes to the draft as a veteran defensive back with plenty of SEC experience. He played sparingly in 2020 and 2021 before appearing in 24 games over the past two seasons.

Phillips thanked the Kentucky fan base and coaching staff for allowing him to play in Lexington for four seasons, a dream he had since he was young:

“BBN, First I want to thank God for blessing me and putting me where I am today,” Phillips wrote. “Next, I’d like to thank my family, friends and coaches that have helped me through this journey that made me the man I am today. I love you all!

“I can’t put into words how grateful I have been to play under Coach Stoops at the University of Kentucky these last 4 years. It was a lifelong dream of mine to play here and I’m glad I can call the city of Lexington my home.”

Phillips stands at 6-feet tall and 187 lbs, a solid frame for an NFL defensive back. His background of playing in the slot and on the boundary means that he can be a versatile option for an NFL team as well, and he has the physicality and experience to step in and be a contributor.
