Bruiser Flint, a Kentucky assistant, stepped in for John Calipari to speak to the media on Monday, a second straight media opportunity that John Calipari avoided after the 3rd loss in 4 games on Saturday to Tennessee. Kentucky is trying to pull itself together as the fan base appears to be in shambles amid the losing skid.

“I think our morale has been good,” Flint said. “I mean we ain’t been losing to no bums…This league is really good, we’re gonna have a lot of close games like that. I mean the guys are down we lost two tough games, but their spirits are good.”

Flint’s comments came after Calipari skipped his post-game radio show on Saturday, something that was noticed by fans.

As for the Tennessee game, Flint said there’s plenty of things to improve on for UK on defense, but sometimes it’s time to give the other team some credit.

“They had some guys who shot the ball like they hadn’t all year,” he said. “We need to be more consistent in our details.”

Flint added that UK had breakdowns on its out-of-bound plays on defense, and Tennessee also won several 50/50 balls.

As for Tuesday’s game against Vanderbilt, Flint doesn’t expect the matchup to be easy.

“We’re gonna get everybody’s best shot,” Flint said. “Last year they beat us off the dribble. Expect them to do that again this year … a lot of the same guys back who gave us problems last year.”
