Kentucky got fantastic news this week as the SEC presidents voted to allow intra-conference transfers to play this season, which means Joey Gatewood is officially cleared to see the field for the Wildcats Saturday against Ole Miss.

Now, that doesn’t mean Gatewood will automatically see the field this weekend — Mark Stoops has been vague when it comes to the team’s plans for the former Auburn quarterback — but considering how rusty starting quarterback Terry Wilson looked in the opener against Gatewood’s former team, there’s a good chance the recently cleared signal-caller sees the field this Saturday in some capacity.

There’s so much anticipation within Big Blue Nation to see Gatewood on the field that the team even provided practice footage of the signal-caller leading up to the Ole Miss game.

The redshirt sophomore saw the field a total of eight times for Auburn, mostly in junk time, scoring five touchdowns during that time — three rushing and two passing.

He’s thrown for 54 yards while rushed for 148 total yards.
