Liam Coen is a potential candidate for the vacant head coaching job at Boston College, according to a report.

That’s per The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman, who published a list of possible candidates for the job on Thursday morning. Boston College is looking to replace Jeff Hafley, who left for the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator position on Wednesday.

Coen is in his second stint as Kentucky’s offensive coordinator. However, he has reportedly interviewed for multiple jobs in college and in the NFL this offseason. Most recently, he was linked to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator position on Thursday morning.

As for his connection to Boston College, Coen is a former UMass quarterback with plenty of ties to the region. Here’s some of Feldman’s analysis on why Coen could be a good fit in Chestnut Hill:

One of the potential candidates for the vacancy, according to an industry source, is Coen. The Rhode Island native has been in the mix for NFL offensive coordinator jobs, including one now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He knows the Boston area very well and his reputation would attract some talented offensive players.

Coen returned to Lexington for the 2023 season and delivered positive results once again. The Wildcats averaged 6.18 yards per play in 2023, which ranked 7th in the SEC. In 2022, when Coen was with the Los Angeles Rams, UK finished dead last in the SEC in that category with just 5.2 yards per play.

Coen, 38, is originally from Rhode Island.
