No. 3-seed Kentucky got all it could handle from No. 11-seed Vanderbilt and had to battle until the final buzzer to come away with a 77-71 win to make the SEC Tournament semifinals for a rematch with No. 2-seed Tennessee.

Unfortunately, there is a lot of talk about a missed call in an otherwise great basketball game. In the game’s final seconds, SEC Network replay showed a Kentucky player had his foot out of bounds with the ball. Play continued, however, as the refs missed the call. There was a video review, but it was for a different out-of-bounds call. The Wildcats inbounded the ball after review.

Vanderbilt’s Jordan Wright led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-12 shooting. He also led the Commodores in rebounds with 6. For Kentucky, TyTy Washington Jr. led the way with 25 points, shooting 8-of-17 from the floor, including 4-of-5 from 3-point territory. Oscar Tshiebwe posted a double-double of 12 points and 14 rebounds.

Both teams went on double-digit runs, but neither team led by double digits. Kentucky’s largest lead of the game was a 9-point difference at the 4:32 mark of the second half (69-60). UK was up 37-33 at the half. John Calipari told the SEC Network’s Alyssa Lang that his message for the team ahead of the second half was, “Let’s play better.” Jerry Stackhouse’s Commodores, playing their third game in as many days, notched their largest lead of the game, 7 points, at the 16:36 mark (46-39). Kentucky, however, went on a run and Vandy’s final lead of the game would be 47-46 with 14:48 to go.
