After playing at Kentucky and spending several years as an assistant at his alma mater, he landed the head coaching job for the Wildcats in 2010.

In his three years at the helm, he went 13-24 before he was fired. He has since moved on to Florida, Ohio State, the NFL and Cincinnati.

After spending the 2017 and 2018 seasons as the Bearcats’ WR coach, though, it appears Phillips has a new job. Per a report from FootballScoop.com, Phillips is heading off to Maryland to join Mike Locksley’s staff as the Terrapins’ WR coach.

Locksley took over the Maryland program after spending the 2018 season as Alabama’s offensive coordinator.

Phillips now reportedly has a new squad, and we’ll see how he fares at Maryland after spending the past two years in the AAC.
