With an open spot available on the Kentucky coaching staff, head coach Mark Stoops has acted swiftly to find his next defensive coordinator.

According to a report from Football Scoop, Stoops plans to promote inside linebackers coach/special teams coordinator Matt House as the team’s new defensive coordinator. House would replace D.J. Eliot, who left Kentucky for the same position at Colorado.

Terms and length of any deal are not known at this time.

House served as defensive coordinator at both FIU and Pitt before joining Kentucky’s staff in 2016. House has a total of three years experience at defensive coordinator. House has been coaching since 2001 after finishing his playing career at Michigan State in 2000.
