Brian Kelly cracks joke when discussing play-calling duties at LSU
Brian Kelly hired former Cincinnati OC Mike Denbrock as the LSU Tigers’ new offensive coordinator as he prepares for Year 1 in Baton Rouge.
Some offensive-minded head coaches, like Kelly, are the ones who actually call plays for their teams, though, so where will Kelly fit in?
On Thursday, during an introductory press conference for the new offensive staff, Kelly said Denbrock will call all the plays. But, he added as a joke, Kelly himself gets credit for all the really good plays:
Brian Kelly on play calling: Let's be really clear – I call all the really good plays. #LSU

Brian Kelly jokes: "Let's get this clear. I call all the good plays."
Says Mike Denbrock will call plays, which allows Kelly to run the whole team//big picture/build relationships like the last few years at ND, but he'll still be very involved and not detached. #LSU

Denbrock’s offense at Cincinnati helped the Bearcats become the first Group of 5 team to make the College Football Playoff field in the event’s history.
Now, we’ll see if he can revamp a unit that features QB Myles Brennan and WR Kayshon Boutte into one of the best offenses in the SEC.
