Brian Kelly is making sure his first LSU squad is familiar with some of the legends of the past.

That’s why, this spring, he brought Tyrann Mathieu (AKA the Honey Badger) in to talk to this year’s group of Tigers.

On Saturday, Kelly discussed the speech, saying it meant a lot for his players to hear from someone who they admire in the NFL ranks:

“What makes him tick is the things I talk about,” Kelly said. “His traits. He’s built on the fundamentals of attention to detail, commitment, hard work. That resonates. It’s not the head coach talking about it. It’s a guy they revere.”

Kelly is absolutely right. Sometimes, switching up the messenger can be a big boost for a young team. We’ll see if the Honey Badger’s message resonates with the Tigers.
