One of the most highly anticipated games of the season will take place this weekend in Tuscaloosa as No. 8 Alabama hosts No. 14 LSU.

The pivotal matchup could go a long ways in determining the West division representative in the SEC title game. Alabama is atop the division with a 5-0 record in SEC play while LSU is tied with Ole Miss in the West at 4-1 in conference games.

CBS Sports analyst Brian Jones believes LSU will come out on top because it possesses the nation’s No. 1 offense. The Tigers are averaging 47.4 points per game.

Jones went as far as to suggest the current edition of LSU’s offense is comparable to the national championship squad that features NFL stars such as Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson.

“I think LSU is going to win this ball game. You mentioned 2019. This reminds me of 2019, this offense for LSU. Different characters. Jayden Daniels, of course. Receivers in [Brian] Thomas Jr. and [Malik] Nabers. That’s the second coming of Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson,” Jones said. “These guys are bad to the bone. That offense is Cajun hot. I think it’s going to be a high-scoring affair. Whoever has it last will win. I’m going with the Tigers.”

LSU won last season’s meeting 32-31 in Baton Rouge in Brian Kelly’s first year at the helm. Alabama leads the all-time series 55-27-5. LSU at Alabama is set for 7:45 p.m. EST on CBS.
