The last game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome was a happy memory for Clyde Edwards-Helaire as his LSU Tigers were celebrating a national championship.

In his first NFL game back in his home state, the memories were not as pleasant.

With less than 6 minutes remaining in the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 15 game against the New Orleans Saints, the Baton Rouge native appeared to suffer an injury to his left ankle. CBS cameras showed him being helped to the locker room following the play.

It is difficult to see exactly what happened or how it happened, but the image of Edwards-Helaire unable to put any weight on his ankle speaks volumes.

The Chiefs, a favorite to win a 2nd straight Super Bowl, could be forced to go the rest of the way without its talented 1st-year running back. And hopefully for Edwards-Helaire, this injury turns out to be not as bad as it originally looked.
