Derek Stingley Jr. has reached a deal with the Houston Texans to officially begin his rookie season, as the top cornerback in the NFL Draft takes the next step in his pro career.
Stingley’s contract is reported to be fully guaranteed with a $22 million signing bonus. Before a foot injury slowed his development at LSU, Stingley had a great freshman season and he’ll look to resurrect that form in the pros.
In 2019, he recorded 6 interceptions and 15 pass breakups (to go with 38 tackles and a forced fumble) that season. That season alone, he lived up to the 5-star hype coming out of high school.
Stingley finished his LSU career with 73 tackles, 6 interceptions, 7 tackles for loss and 21 passes defended.
The Houston Texans and No. 3 overall pick Derek Stingley Jr. have agreed to a four-year, fully guaranteed rookie contract, per source. Will include a fifty-year option. Top selected corner in the draft officially in the fold.
