LSU’s defense gained a big piece of the puzzle with the addition of Clemson transfer Mike Jones Jr. In 3 seasons with the program, Jones accumulated 46 tackles and 7.0 tackles for a loss, including 26 tackles, 4.0 TFLs, and a forced fumble as a junior in 2020.

The Nashville product and former IMG Academy standout opted to join LSU in the offseason and will look to make an impact on the current crop of linebackers in Baton Rouge. Jones didn’t play against UCLA in the season opener, but according to Ed Orgeron, he’ll be on the field as the Tigers face McNeese at Tiger Stadium.

“I want to see him out there,” Orgeron said, according to Harrison Valentine. “He’s an experienced player. It’s still an ongoing process for him, but he definitely can run, make plays in space, great in coverage. You’ll see him this week.”

While the Tigers got off to a 0-1 start with a defeat to the Bruins at the Rose Bowl, they’ll hope it’s simply a small bump in the road with a great chance to get on track against McNeese on Saturday night at Death Valley.
