According to Ed Orgeron, the one position that has plagued LSU for what seems like a decade has been solved. The Tigers will have strong quarterback play in 2018.

At least, that’s what Coach O claims heading into spring football.

His predecessor made similar claims over the years and a big part of the reason Les Miles was fired four games into the 2016 season was due to his team’s dreadful passing performances during the final few years of his tenure. While Orgeron didn’t give any specifics as to who would be stepping up to fill in the void left by Danny Etling’s departure, LSU’s coach was boisterous in his attempts to sell his program’s QBs heading into 2018.

During a Thursday morning appearance on 104.5 FM ESPN Baton Rouge program Off the Bench, Orgeron admitted that QB was the biggest issue facing his program heading into the spring.

“Somebody has to step up. That’s been the question at LSU for a long time,” Orgeron said on the air. “We feel like we have three outstanding quarterbacks. I feel like I have a great quarterback coach. Steve Ensminger, a great offensive coordinator. I think it’s probably going to happen. I see talent in all three of these guys. I believe in them.

“I believe that we are finally going to have the quarterback that LSU has been looking for a long time.”

That’s a bold statement considering he didn’t specify which QB would be leading his offense. Of course, Orgeron could have been trying to keep it quiet but based on his answer, the Tigers could be rolling out any one of three QBs the team returns this season: Myles Brennan, Lowell Narcisse or Justin McMillan.

One thing is for sure, LSU had better have the position figured out before the Sept. 2 season opener in Arlington, as the Tigers are set to face a Miami team coming off a 10-3 season.
